1. Be prepared to wait a long time before you get your license. The FAA does not issue licenses immediately. If you have been flying for three years without an accident, then you can expect to wait between 5-10 years after passing your written test (depending on where you take the test). After that, you will wait about 1 year after getting your medical certificate. You will need to complete at least 30 hours of flight training per year for the last two years before receiving your license. When applying for a private pilot's certificate, you may need to pass both the knowledge test and instrument rating exam.
2. Be aware of the weather conditions. As a pilot, you are responsible for the safety of yourself and others. This means being aware of possible bad weather conditions like thunderstorms, tornadoes, and severe turbulence. Keep in mind that pilots are legally obligated to notify air traffic control if they notice other aircraft coming close to them.
3. Always carry everything you could possibly need while flying. Don't just grab whatever you think you might need. Always remember that you don't know what you'll encounter out there.
4. Always check the weather before taking off. Flying into turbulent weather conditions can be dangerous. Be sure you've checked current weather reports online before takeoff.
5. Always fly using the airspace assigned to you. If you are in a small plane or helicopter, always use the airspace designated for single engine piston powered airplanes. Never attempt to fly above clouds. There is no way to tell how many planes or helicopters are below you.
6. Make sure your radio works. Even though you only have one channel, make sure you're able to communicate clearly and effectively. Try different frequencies from time to time to ensure your radio is working properly.
1. Be aware of weather conditions at your destination.
2. Know what type of plane you are flying (multi-engine, jet etc).
3. Make sure that you have enough fuel to get back.
4. Check the maintenance records of the aircraft.
5. If using autopilot, check that it works properly.
6. Have an idea of how long your flight should take.
7. Be educated on how your aircraft works.
8. Know what kind of aircraft you are flying and know your limitations.
9. Have at least one year experience before attempting to fly commercial airlines.
10. Learn how to operate radio equipment and understand the frequencies used in aviation.
11. Understand that piloting an airplane requires constant attention to detail and concentration.
12. Know how to land and take off an aircraft safely and efficiently.
The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “pilot” is flying. But pilots don’t just fly planes they are responsible for making sure everything goes smoothly onboard their aircrafts too. Pilots usually deal with tasks like navigation, communication, and even maintenance. In this video, we are going to look at some of the things that make a good pilot out of anyone.
1. You have to become an expert, but not only that
You need to know about all aspects of flying including physics and flight planning. You have to understand the instruments and how to use them to your advantage. If you want to get into aviation, this is something you should seriously think about.
2. Be ready to learn fast
Piloting requires constant learning. When you’re starting out, you can always watch videos and read books to help you improve yourself. There are lots of resources to learn from.
